The most common answer when you tell someone you chose home education over traditional schooling is always ‘why?’. The curiosity that comes with wanting to deeply dive into other’s life choices is natural. However, it’s not always nice to feel like you have to answer to others all the time. The good news is that there are so many easy answers to why you should choose home education.
Education for your children is one of the most personal choices a family can make. Plus choosing home education is one of the easiest if you want to have the main say in your child’s future. It was you who taught your children to walk, to talk, to eat, to use a toilet, to say their ABCs. You buy a Rolex on WatchBox and then use it to teach your children the time. Maybe you buy a house, and teach your children all about how to do that themselves. All of those things came from you and your teaching and their learning from you doesn’t stop there. For some families, home education is the right choice because of health reasons or because of traveling. Regardless of the reason you start to home educate your children, here are five more to teach you that it’s a great decision to make.

5 Reasons To Choose Home Education
1. The curriculum is your choice.
Every single child learns individually. Some learn by doing, others learn by seeing. No matter how they learn, you’re in control of what they learn and you can teach it in a way that they understand. Schools can’t often do this as they have an entire classroom of children to accommodate. You can include the topics you want them to learn and give them the freedom to learn them in a way they’re most comfortable.
2. A relaxing atmosphere.
Whether you are indoors or outdoors, on the floor or at a desk, your children will be able to learn in a way that makes most sense to them. Which is so important for learning. Comfort is key and there’s no pressure with testing.
3. You remain connected to their education.
There are many times you will come up with natural lessons in their day to day lives. There’s no teachers to fight, regulations to beat against or boundaries to cross for your child’s comfort in learning. They’re with you and you with them every step of the way.
4. Teaching Values.
You can teach your children your values and give them space to create their own. No matter what you believe, your children can learn so much from you and your values at home. You can better protect them from ‘too much information’, which is so crucial to the happy development of your children.
5. You get time.
Up to eight hours per day five days a week is a lot for a young child to be away from their parents. You have the chance to get that time back and spend it with your children. And you can spend it in a way that allows you to foster their learning whilst being present.
