I’ve noticed that there are lots of different Halloween family events coming up in Scotland, not just the usual pumpkin patches. Halloween Family Events in Scotland
Loch Lomond Halloween Encounter and Scary Faerie Trail, Balloch
The Halloween Encounter is for children 8+ and the Scary Faerie Trail for all ages of children. The Halloween Encounter promises to shock and surprise you with light effects, sounds, illusion and spooky scenes, while you escape the ancient woodland that’s haunted by night!
Finish at the haunted Pumpkin Patch where you can choose to purchase your own pumpkin and hot drinks.
The Scary Faerie Trail is a Halloween themed faerie trail through the woodlands by Luss. Adult and Child tickets include activity guide book, souvenir wristband and pencil to help you solve the mystery by following the clues around the woods.
Booking: Essential, booking through the website, £15 for the Halloween Encounter and £8 for the Scary Faerie Trail.
Opening dates: From the 1st to 31st October.
Spooky Pumpkin Cruises, Linlithgow
A spooky storytelling cruise aboard a narrowboat. The cruise is approximately 45 minutes long in each direction, so total return journey with time on the farm will be approximately 2-3hrs. A Story teller will be on board on either the outward or return journey to tell a spooky story.

Pumpkin Festival, East Links Family Park
Book tickets for the park during the Pumpkin Festival dates (15-31st October) to pick a pumpkin and carve it at the park, leaving all the mess with them! Tickets include a free pumpkin for every child, fancy dress competition, Halloween themed hunt and lots of fun and scary music and jokes throughout the park.

Pumpkin Carving and Halloween Hunt at Conifox, Edinburgh
Choose your own pumpkin and carve a spooky face (or whatever you wish!) and then go for a spooky Halloween Hunt around the park to win a goodie bag. Tickets include adventure park entry too.

Opening Dates: 16-24th and 29-31st October
Freaky Forest, Kelburn Estate
At Kelburn Estate you will search for clues in the Freaky Forest for the hidden alien and decide whether to send it home or turn it over to government agents! There will also be themed trails, pop-up Halloween activities and spot prizes for best costumes.
Booking: Essential, £6 per person plus £5 per car.
Opening Dates: 9-17th October
Wondrous Woods at Hopetoun House, Edinburgh
Visit the stunning estate at Hopetoun House for a fantastic outdoor light trail in the woodlands. It’s not a Halloween themed event, instead an October light show. Going by last years experience it will be amazing! Read more about our review of last years trail here.
The trail is 2km long and has sound, light and special effects.
Booking: Essential, Off-peak Thursday tickets are £9 for a child and £20 for an adult. Peak tickets (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) cost £12 for a child and £22 for an adult. There are also family ticket bundles available.

Edinburgh Zoo Spooktacular
Edinburgh Zoo is celebrating all things Halloween for the first with a magical illuminated trail. Listen out for a rustling amongst the trees and peeping eyes as you make your way through the park, meeting lots of different characters on the way.
From witches and wizards, to scarecrows and spiders!
Booking: Essential: Adults £17; Children £11; Members Adults £13.50, Members Child £8.50
Opening Times: 8-31st October, 5.30-9pm.
Newhailes Haunted Halloween Trail, Edinburgh
Newhailes annual Halloween trail is loved by all kids, expect lots of fun and game for all the family. Count the bats, hunt the spiders, and beware the deadly cemetery! Fancy dress is recommended!
Booking: Via Eventbrite. Prices are £1 adults and £4 children. Plus £3 car park charge for non-members of NTS.

Floors Castle Halloween Trail, Kelso
The grounds of Floors Castle will be opening for a special spooky event this October. Gather your little monsters for ghoulishly great family fun and frights on our Halloween Pumpkin Trail through the enchanting Castle grounds.
Booking: Essential, £8 per child, adults and under 1’s go free.
Opening Times: Friday 22nd- Sunday 31st of October, 10am – 4pm each day (last entry 3pm).
GlasGLOW Botanic Gardens, Glasgow

Loch Leven Halloween Treasure Trail, Kinross
Enjoy the Loch Leven Halloween Treasure Trail. Carlin Maggie the old witch of Bishop Hill is back, and she’s left some items lying around Loch Leven! Can you help find them in our spooky Halloween treasure hunt? Pick up your treasure map at the visitor centre and see how many objects you can find! Expect nature wonders, spooky stuff, and of course, the odd trick. Suitable for children of all ages,
Booking: Not required, pick up your pack for £3.50 at RSPB Loch Leven.
