Although I really do love all the more educational and practical gift ideas mentioned in my Alternative Kids Gift Guide, my boys still love toys and so I have created a pre-school kids gift guide of their favourite kinds of toys.
So here is our Preschool Kids Gift Guide:
Table of Contents
Wow toys

Wow toys are always high up in the list of toys my two like, even at 5 Mr O loves to get Wow toys as they are a good size to hold, make a great noise when they move and have perfect sized little people to fit inside. I love them as they don’t break easily and they don’t require batteries (always a worry when buying toys).

The boys are testing out Sort n Tidy Taylor, a fantastic purple recycling truck, which arrives with two figures and 3 recycling bins. The front flips up and tips the recycling bins into the truck, then Taylor can speed along with the crusher whizzing round. The little side door opens so you can slide out the recycling boxes ready to start again. Both boys loves Sort N Tidy Taylor and like to take the recycling around the house.

We were also sent Ernie the Fire Engine to test out and littlest was impressed with the ladder that could be moved around with his little firefighter to extinguish the fire. If you press the magic button at the back the fir engine opens and out falls a safety barrier to keep the area clear when Ernie is putting out the fire.

As all of the Wow toys people are interchangeable the boys could use the other Wow toys they already have to create fantastic scenerios for them to play together, they are brilliant for encouraging imaginative play!
If you would like to win your own Sort N Tidy Taylor, then enter our competition at the bottom of the page.
Octonaut Sea Slimed Octopod Play Set

Both of my two love Octonauts and they were rather excited to play with this playset that has actual slime involved (it’s not as messy as it sounds, honest!). The set is fairly easy to pop together and place stickers, ready for Captain Barnacles to rescue the octopus and clean up the slime.

When you press the Otcopod button it has the characteristics Octonaut siren and then Captain Barnacles gives out his orders to the crew. Read more about what the play set includes here.
Paw Patrol

I think most young children around the UK will know about Paw Patrol by now and love watching the TV characters. My two are no different and would love a Paw Patrol toy for their Christmas, as they like trains I think they would especially love this Adventure Bay Railway Track Play Set. It only come with one pup, but as we have several others already I’m sure my boys wouldn’t mind! You can find out more about it here.
Lego
Lego is a popular choice for young children to adults and my eldest is no exception. He loves building different Lego sets and can easily do all the simple we one he has already by himself. We recently visited the Lego shop in Glasgow and eldest was rather impressed by the hundreds of different Lego sets you could buy. He took a particular interest in this Lego Train Set and has requested it for Christmas!

It’s actually suggested for 6-12 years old, but as our 5 year old he has some 6-12 sets already. I’m pretty sure that he will enjoy this! Lego is a great toy and helps children learn in so many ways, including reading, following instructions, construction, fine motor skills, imaginative play. I’m sure most children would find a set that would be perfect for them.
Dolls house
My two year old particularly enjoys playing with small people and animals. He like to sit there making them talk to each other in different voices. However, we don’t have anywhere proper to play with them and the baskets of small animals and people is forever being emptied out and lost! So I thought it would be great to get my little one a dolls house. This way all his people and animals could have a home.

Aldi has a cute dolls house and furniture at a reasonable price at the moment. Have a look here if you were thinking of buying one for your kids.
Plutonium Sox says
Ah these look fab. My girls would love the Octonauts toy, my eldest is doing Octonauts as her theme at school at the moment which is quite nice.
