When we moved into our new built house two years ago I thought long and hard about our hall layout. It’s a small space, but made a lot more difficult by an awkwardly placed radiator and thermostat. The only option for a coat rack was behind the door, so I decided to make a little more interesting than simple hooks.
Our house a bit of a woodland theme running through it, mainly because of me, but my husband is an arborist, so I think it’s down, at least a little bit, to him as well!
I was given a smallish tree wall sticker that my aunt no longer wanted, which was lovely, but waaaaay too short to be of use.
Fortunately the big DIY shops now match paint colours to ANYTHING, so I took a piece of the bottom of the tree and had a sample pot of paint made up in the same colour.
Once home I stuck the tree sticker to the wall and painted the lower half of the tree and a few extra branches. The leaves are stickers, cut by myself to make oak leaves as it’s my favourite tree.
We then purchased black coat hooks and placed them strategically around the tree.
I love how it looks, although I’ve twice had to paint the line where the sticker and paint meets as our walls seem to have stretched?! I think it might need painted again in the near future too, who knew houses grew?
What do you think of our coat tree?

This is so cool, far nicer than our boring old coat rack!
I love that it sort of becomes a ‘family tree’ with everybody’s coats hanging on the branches.
