Unicorn Academy – The Series
My youngest has enjoyed the Unicorn Academy Series for quite a while now. We’ve had most of the series from the library already. However, littlest was very excited when we received the next 2 books in the series – Lyra & Misty and Evie & Sunshine.
The series follows along a different group of girls and their unicorns. Normally it’s around 4- 5 girls in each group, who all stay together in the same dorm at Unicorn Academy for a year. Each student at Unicorn Academy must learn about history, plants etc. and also bond with their unicorn. Bonding happens when the child and unicorn work well together and the child’s hair has a streak of colour the same as their unicorns mane. The unicorn also has to find their own magic, which can be anything from speed to creating bubbles to keep everyone safe!
The Storyline
In these two books starts the beginning of a new year of students at Unicorn Academy. Ruby dorm has 4 new girls, Lyra, Evie, Ivy and Sienna. Together they discover a secret room and map, which they spend the next 4 books trying to discover more clues and the treasure.
On the way the girls learn more about each other, friendship and how to connect with their unicorns. It’s not always easy when you are away from family, but the girls and the unicorns work hard to overcome all the challenges.
There is always a baddie in these books. Although I won’t give away who it is in this series. Someone is against the girls and does everything they can to stop them from succeeding on their quest to find the treasure. You can join the girls and unicorns to find out who exactly what is happening!
Who Is Unicorn Academy For?
The Unicorn Academy book series is for any adventure and unicorn loving child! There are around 20 books in the series at the moment and although you can start at any book and enjoy it, I’d recommend at least finding the start of each ‘dorm group’, otherwise it might give away some of the previous story.
The first book of this latest dorm is Lyra and Misty, although if you enjoy this one you should definitely go back and read earlier books from the series.
What Age Is Unicorn Academy For?
The chapters are short and relatively large words, so aimed at 7-9 year olds to read themselves. Although I’ve been reading them to my youngest from around 5 years of age. If your child enjoyed other light hearted fairy or unicorn books then there’s a good chance that they will enjoy these too!
