If you’ve read this post you’ll know that O had no interest in toilet training. However, that has now changed and he has been asking to wear pants and we’re no longer using nappies for him (a lot less nappy washing, which is great!).
This was partly due to circumstances which meant we had to let him run around nappy’less and partly in my opinion to this excellent potty training book which we were lucky enough to review.
The potty book is based on Pirate Pete’s potty book (there are also prince/princess versions), but the main advantage of this book is that you can personalise it to your child.
I love this, as it means that your child can see themselves using the potty and going through all the actions already. And if they can do it in the book then of course they can see themselves doing it in real life too!
You can personalise the name to theirs, choose which carer is named in the book to help them (I chose mummy, but it could be daddy, granny or anyone you like). Then you can choose the child’s appearance – skin colour, hair colour, hair length/style and glasses.
O loved reading about himself and interacting with the book (you can choose your favourite potty and pants). We kept it in the toilet room, so every time we went to the toilet we could read that to him.
We are almost there after a week of pants, of course there a few reminders depending on O’s mood and how busy he is playing, but that’s to be expected.
This is a brilliant idea for a potty training book and I highly recommend this book to any parents who are potty training or about to.
Have you used a personalised potty training book?

It looks like a super cute book! My oldest 2 didn’t potty train until 3 1/2 years old. My youngest is 2 1/2 now and she shows interest. When she wants. LOL I just might try and find this book; see if she likes it! 🙂

Ha ha! Glad it’s not just my kids that aren’t too interested! The book is great, I’m sure it will give at least a little encouragement! 🙂 x

This book looks fantastic. I have completely forgotten when Will was trained. But James was 3/3&half he’s fine now but it took a lot of time and patience. Thanks for linking up with us on the #bigfatlinky hope to see you there this week.

Thanks Martyn! Good to know others have children who are a bit older when toilet trained and not as interested! It seemed like everyone else had children in pants except me! At least he got there in the end! 🙂
