Over the last year or so I’ve spent a lot of time looking at our photos from past travels. We’ve been lucky enough to travel to various places all over the world, from our own Scottish islands to Sri Lanka. It’s lovely to look back at all our travel memories.

Favourite Travel Memories
It’s really hard to choose a favourite travel memory. We’ve had some fantastic holidays in recent years! The image below is from a trip to Hourtin Plage in France, near Bordeaux. We had a just ridden bikes through the woods across some tracks and strange broken concrete bike trails! Then suddenly we come to a beautiful beach overlooking a lake. The kids absolutely loved playing in the water and clambering on the pier before we had to cycle back!

Our trip to Pisa in Italy was purely because the children wanted to see the famous landmark. Although I made the mistake of not booking to go inside the tower in advance and so we weren’t able to go inside. The children were very disappointed and I’ve promised we would return one day to climb up the tower! This may well be part of a future Interrailing trip!

Of course I couldn’t leave out our beautiful Scottish holidays! We’ve had many wonderful days out and trips away in Scotland. Our recent trip to the Isle of Iona was stunning and has now been added to one of our favourite Scottish places to be. The weather was gorgeous, the beaches beautiful and people friendly. We will definitely be back again!

Preserving The Joy of Moments That Matter

Our last trip abroad was to Sri Lanka, somewhere that’s close to our hearts. My husband and I first visited on our honeymoon and then I introduced the kids to the island in 2020. I have huge amounts of photos from our visits! I think it’s important to print photos online so we have a lasting memory and in this case I might just print a book with both my husband and I on honeymoon in a photobook beside the kids and I on holiday! It would be a great contrast and I know the kids will love seeing pictures of the same places we had been at different times!
Printed Travel Memories – What To Do With Prints
We can easily print out lots of photo books and photos. But what do you do with these so you don’t just end up with a stack of books on top of the bookshelf or photos stuck in a box?
There are some really creative ideas out there, check Pinterest for some help! But personally I like to print our favourite photos each year as polaroid style pics, then clip them into a frame we have hanging in the hallway. It’s a great way to remember fun of previous years!
Another fun and creative way for you to showcase your travel memories is to create a travel map memory wall. You can buy these online or make your own. All you need is a world map and some pins. Choose your favourite photo from each destination and pin it to the map. To keep the map and photos protected from dust and sticky children fingers, you can order clear perspex sheets from cut plastic sheeting to go over the top of the map. This is a great way to keep all your memories in one place, and it looks pretty too!
I’m really not sure how I’m going to choose photos from this year. I have so many good ones!
How do you like to display printed photos?
