Minuscule: Valley of the Lost Ants is the new DVD from Lionsgate, released as a digital download on the 19th September and available to order on DVD from 26th September.
Minuscule centers on the life of a young ladybird who loses her family and befriends a black ant. The little ladybird helps the ants take a tin of sugar cubes back to their home, whilst being chased by the vicious red ants, who want to steal the bounty.

The insects in the film don’t talk, but instead make noises to each other and you sort-of get whether they are being friendly or not and the music tells you what type of emotion is being played out, which does make it quite an emotional film actually. My 5 year old was in tears a few times as he was sad that the little ladybird had lost his family and then concerned about the red ants catching them. He was fine after watching it, talking through the film with us, but if you have a sensitive child, then please sit and watch it with your child, just in case they get upset!
It is a great animation, really well played out and full of friendship and fun. I highly recommend it as a family film and the kids will love the characters involved and all the excitement throughout.

After watching the film and enjoying seeing the insect world it’s perfect to go out for a walk and identify your local bugs. You might even catch a glimpse of your own ladybird and ant families.

This looks great, the animation looks very realistic. I’ll look out for it, I’m sure my girls would enjoy it.
