I was recently asked by Prestige if I would like to review their teapot and mug set from their new vintage collection. I loved the look and although I’m not a tea drinker myself, my husband and most friends and family are.
However, to test it out I really wanted to make myself a hot beverage that I would actually enjoy. The only tea I’ve wanted to drink again and again was the spiced tea we were given on arrival at a hotel in the middle of a tea plantation on Sri Lanka. This was part of our honeymoon, pre-kids, when we could relax and enjoy a drink whilst it’s still warm! Unfortunately, I couldn’t find that particular recipe, but instead I have adapted an Indian spiced tea (Masala Chai) to use in this particular tea pot.
Ingredients:
2 cups boiling water;
1/2 cup milk;
1/8 cup sugar;
1 crushed cinnamon stick;
5 crushed cloves;
3 crushed cardamom pods; and
1 tea bag ( or several black tea leaves if you have them).
- Place the spices and tea bag in the tea pot, this Prestige Vintage pot has a deep sieve, which is great for steeping spices and leaves.
- Pour the boiling water over and steep for 5 minutes.
- Add the milk and sugar and steep for a further 2 minutes before serving.
The Masala Chai tea was delicious and definitely something I would drink again!
I love this tea pot too, I was surprised how much it held, we managed a total of 3 mugs from the one pot and the sieve is great for steeping. They are made of enamel coated steel so aren’t as fragile as other pots and mugs, but still have a lovely retro look that would be nice to take out for guests or use on a cold winters day. It’s also freezer and oven safe up to 240 degrees, dishwasher safe and comes with a 12 month guarantee.
Another bonus is that they’re light and easily packed for when we’re camping!

A friend of mine from America have sent me Chai Spiced Tea once and I love it, however, I can’t find same brand here in UK, tried others but doesn’t taste the same… I’m lucky as she keeps sending me a box every time she sends something for me or for the kids during occasions.
