Benefits of an Active Lifestyle
An active lifestyle is incredibly beneficial. From lowering cholesterol and increasing your energy levels. It can also boost sel-esteem, your mood and sleep quality. That’s a lot from simply moving a little more.
The main problem modern humans have is the increase technology that leads to a sedentary lifestyle. Sitting down for too long each day, whether it’s working at a computer screen, driving machinery or just watching television, is not good for us. So when I say an active lifestyle, I just mean moving about more and not sitting for so long. This doesn’t mean hitting the gym or taking up jogging. Just walking is good for our health too!
Great Options To Start Getting Active
So how should you begin getting active? You can start really simply by taking a walk each day during your lunch break, or walking the kids to nursery/school rather than taking the car. Or if you don’t have as much time during the day, you can always go for a walk after dinner, take the bike out for a cycle or go to the swimming pool and swim for 30-40 minutes.
Obviously you can also try more active pursuits such as skiing, bouldering/rock climbing or get a gym membership. But these can cost a lot more than a simple walk.
What Do I Need To Get Active
Technically you don’t need anything but motivation! Although if you have the money to spare, here are a few things that can help get you, and keep you, active.
Clothing For an Active Lifestyle

You can walk in anything, but it’s useful to have something that doesn’t rub when wet (we live in the UK, it’s bound to rain!). So no jeans, go for leggings or walking trousers.
A couple of layers is useful too, it’s surprising how quickly you warm up when walking! A thin top and then a fleece are good options for walking in the UK. Don’t forget a waterproof jacket and a small rucksack for water and snacks!
Fitbit Versa 4

If you can spare the cash a Fitbit Versa 4 is a fantastic idea to keep track of your activity. It can tell you how many steps you’ve taken, your blood pressure, length of time active and even your sleep quality.
If you’re looking at smart watches for an affordable fitness tracker, this is a great choice. It can even work out how many calories you’ve burned each day! And if you’re swimming it’s water resistant up to 50m. So it’s perfect for tracking, walking, running, cycling and swimming. A good all rounder in terms of fitness watches.
Ninja 2-in-1 Blender

Then for when you’re back home, a fruit smoothie is a great way to increase your daily dose of fruit. Increasing your fruit intake is a great option for feeling good, but is also linked to the reduced chance of strokes and heart disease.
We have been trying out the Ninja blender with some excellent smoothie recipes. From berry-full smoothies to spinach and kiwi smoothies, there is something for everyone! This is a great choice to either take with you on a walk with the handy cup and lid, or for after exercise.
This combination of a more active lifestyle and increasing your fruit intake will certainly help you on your way to increasing your energy, reducing stress and as a result, becoming a much happier person overall.
