I’m not afraid to admit that I hate the gym. It’s sweaty and loud and I’m always conscious that I am probably not using the equipment correctly. Plus for me it is a pain to get to and as someone needs to look after the kids I don’t get much of a chance to get there.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind exercise, but up until recently that only involved walking and cycling with the kids. The boys are still young and I don’t get to go as far as I would normally, so this probably isn’t enough exercise for my excessive cake and chocolate consumption…
Exercise At Home
So the next option is of course to exercise at home. I can do that anytime and the kids can also join in with me, in their own way. I have had a few exercise DVD’s in the past, but they don’t get used either, or they become lost…
Then I was told about Fatkiller Club, which sounded perfect for me, especially as a parent who has no alone time for exercising. Fatkiller Club originated in Italy and is now expanding to the UK. Each week you are given a shopping list and every day you have a list of meal suggestions and a set of daily exercises to complete.
The exercises include warm-up activities such as lunges and squats, then they progress into morning and evening exercises. For each type of exercise is a video showing you just how to do it, which is brilliant for those of us who have no idea what a lunge or burpee actually involves!
I have been testing out the exercises of the programme for a week now and I am impressed at how doable it actually is. Not at all like some of the exercise DVD’s that I have attempted in the past!
That’s not saying it’s easy, it definitely takes some work and certain exercises are harder for me than others. However, with a bit of effort and practice I can do everything that is asked each day.
The meals can all be created from the weekly shopping list. I have to admit that I haven’t followed it exactly as I am a pescetarian and so have substituted fish for the meats that are suggested.
I am definitely feeling better for eating less sugar and more greens and seeds. I was worried I wouldn’t cope without all the sugar’y’ snacks that I enjoy, but I’m actually not missing it much at all!
I highly recommend this plan to those who are trying to exercise at home or have limited time. The set exercises are not too hard to fit around your day and the meals are healthy and delicious.
