Duinrell Holiday Resort
The popular holiday resort of Duinrell in the Netherlands has the largest water park in the Benelux region, along with a fantastic family theme park. You can choose from a variety of accommodation, from camping to staying in the luxury Duingalows.

Duinrell is a great family holiday park with plenty of space for the kids and lots of family orientated activities on-site. A great place for a holiday with multiple different aged kids, plenty for each age group to enjoy!
Where Is Duinrell?
Just a short drive from Den Haag, by bus or car, in Southwestern Netherlands, is Duinrell holiday resort. It’s easy access from much of Northern mainland Europe and the UK.
How To Get To Duinrell
Getting to Duinrell is easy, from the UK you can take the Eurostar from London to Rotterdam, then one of the regular local trains to Den Haag. Finally the Duinrell Express bus direct to the holiday park. It’s really simple and an easy journey from the UK.
Alternatively take the ferry from the UK to Hoek of Holland or IJmuiden by Amsterdam and then drive or take the train/bus to Duinrell. It’s also possible to fly to Amsterdam too.

The Duingalow
There are multiple different types of accommodation available at Duinrell, from camping pitches and safari style tents to luxury accommodation. We stayed in a Duingalow that comes in several different sizes, ours was a 6-bed. Perfect for larger families or multigenerational holidays.

The duingalows we stayed in were in a quiet area at the back of the site beside the woodlands. With plenty of outdoor seating it’s perfect for warm summer days! Unfortunately the weather wasn’t so kind to us, so we didn’t get a chance to use the outdoor space this visit.
Inside the building you will find an open plan kitchen, dining and living area, with 3 separate bedrooms and a bathroom off to the sides. There is a double bedroom, twin bedroom and bunk beds in the 6-bed duingalows. You will also find a separate toilet and shower room. Our shower also had sun shower technology to help rejunivate muscles or to wind down at the end of the day. Something I’ve never seen before!
The kitchen has everything you need to cook family meals, including a combi microwave/oven and hob. You can find plenty of food options at the on-site shop in the Duinrell Food Plaza.
The duingalow was spacious and a good place to relax when you need some downtime from the chaos of the theme park and water park. We played card games, read books and enjoyed watching the dragonflies zipping around the grass outside.

Bed sheets and towels for our accommodation were provided, along with a kitchen essentials pack. The kitchen essentials included a small bottle of washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, scrubbing Burch, sponge, matches, bin bags, cloths and tea towel. This was plenty for our 4 night stay! And meant we didn’t need to bring much with us for cleaning.

Facilities At Duinrell

Duinrell has more than just a theme park and water park! You can also find go-kart and bike hire Near reception. Woodlands and paths surrounding the holiday resort and various exercise style activities all around the edge of the woodland. In the school holidays and at weekends there are also various family activities, meet and greet with Rick the frog and competition’s, such as table tennis tournaments.
At the Food Plaza there is a great food shop, with local foods, as well as familiar food. A pub, with mini arcade and bowling. Plus several eateries, including a pizza takeaway, La Place restaurant, Lighthouse bar and terrace, Duinrell pub and Chicken & Ribs.

Duinrell Theme Park

The theme park is definitely the highlight of the stay for the kids. With so many different fun rides, from the big thrill of Falcon or the water fun on the aquachutes. It’s definitely a great place for the whole family to enjoy a great day out. The good thing about staying in the duingalows is that you can reatreat to the relative quiet of the building when you need some down time.
There’s a wide range of different rides, but both my kids found things they enjoyed and we went on each ride multiple times. As we were there outside of the school holidays there was no queue. But it was still fairly busy with school groups visiting each day.
My children are 15 and 12 years old and their favourite rides were the Falcon rollercoaster, the chair swings, Dragonfly rollercoaster, catapults and aqua chutes. Some rides were definitely aimed at younger children, but we tried most of the bigger ones and enjoyed them all!

There is also an arcade in the theme park. It’s like most arcades, easy to spend your money quickly and cheap toys as a prize. But the kids still enjoyed it and we spent some time there when it was wet outside.
You need to use a Duinrell arcade card, which you add money to spend on credits. I’d recommend only putting on a little and topping up when needed.

Smaller activities are dotted around the park, useful to break up all the spinning and dizzying rides! Including the chain bridges to climb, photo props, hall of mirrors and of course the fairground favourite of dodgems!

Duinrell Water Park
The water park at Duinrell is perfect for all ages. We saw groups of older teens together, families with small kids and adult couples on their own. Everyone seemed to be loving it!
If you book directly through Duinrell then you get several free family tickets for the water park. The number of free visits depends on the number of nights you stay. We were there 4 nights and received 2 free visits. Each visit is 2 hours long, with 30 minutes changing time.
Smaller children will love the kids splash park area with smaller slides plus the lazy river. Older children will prefer the bigger flumes such as Flits and Blits, Triton, cyclone, starfright and moonlight. Although middle sized kids will be able to go on the majority of the slides too! Check the heights for slides on the website or at Tikibad when you visit.
Outdoors there is another pool, however this wasn’t open during our stay, so I cannot comment on it. But it did look fun with more slides and a large pool for hot days!
The changing rooms are communal and are all cubicles. Lockers are free, you just need to input a code to get in and out of the lockers.

Other Local Attractions
If you are spending a few days or a week at Duinrell then you might want to go and explore the local area a little. We were there 4 nights, and I definitely needed to get away from the theme park sounds and crowds for a few hours!
Hiring bikes at Duinrell means it’s only a 30 minute cycle or so to the beach. Follow the cycle tracks from the resort, around the corner and through the dunes. We didn’t have great weather, so didn’t stay long. But on a beautiful sunny day it would be perfect for a lazy day playing at the beach and eating at one of the many beach front restaurants.

Other visitors have mentioned travelling to Amsterdam or Leiden by bus or train. We decided to head back to The Hague so we could visit Madurodam model village. The bus stop is just inside the entrance to the park and the sign tells you how long to the next bus. I recommend using 9292 app to buy tickets for a family and scan them from your phone as you get on the bus.

Madurodam is easy to get to by tram from just outside the central station in Den Haag. We spent hours looking at the different model areas. Trying out the different stations with activities, playing at the park and grabbing some food to eat. There are moving vehicles and trains, plus you can control some motor boats too, these seemed very popular!
