We love making dens outside in the woods and playing in our lovely canvas teepee, but sometimes I forget that you don’t even need to leave the house to make a den. Simply use the sofa!
As it’s almost Halloween and we have lots of Halloween decorations the boys and I decided it would be a great idea to create a Halloween den with all our spooky decorations! First of all we needed to clear the sofa cushions off the sofa to begin construction.
Then we put the cushions back on the sofa to make a ‘house’ shape, with long cushions on the two ends and then two base cushions as a wall at the front and as part of the roof. This of course left an area of roof space that we needed to cover to enclose the den.
The boys thought it would be best to use the Halloween table cloth we have to drape over the top and voila! We have a den! It was still looking to drab and bare so the three of us raced round the house to find all of our Halloween decorations and decorate the sofa den.
What do you think?! There are a variety of different items we have bought and made that are decorating around the den.
It’s clearly a great activity for an afternoon as my two spent all afternoon going in and out of their den, having a little picnic and playing monster games.
