The weather in Scotland, probably like the rest of the UK has been pretty awful recently, but we managed to have a lovely dry and chilly walk on New Year’s day.

We have lived around Stirlingshire for a long time, yet we never managed to go for a walk along Three Lochs Forest Drive. During the summer you can drive all the way round the road and stop at various parking areas around the drive. We particularly wanted to go for a walk around Loch Drunkie, but as the forest drive is shut during the winter we parked the car at the entrance and went for a short walk from there.

Just beside the car park is a short walk through the trees. With a little snow on the ground it felt quite wintry and the perfect place to make tiny little snowmen on tree stumps.

We walked along the little path onto the main forest drive and the boys had fun running down the road, until A fell in a puddle and we decided to head back quickly so he didn’t get too cold.

We of course took some selfies and stopped to watch waterfalls and listen to the silence all around.

It was great to get out in the Trossachs again and see some more snow. We’ll hopefully be back again when the gates are opened to visit Loch Drunkie.

Have you seen much snow recently?

This looks like a lovely walk and so nice you got to see some snow. I haven’t seen snow in a long time and I really would love to build a snowman with my little boy. We visited Scotland lots when I was younger and I remember walking around loads of beautiful lochs. Hope you get to see more snow soon!x #whatevertheweather

I’ve been hoping for snow so we can go out on some proper wintry walks but haven’t seen a single snowflake! It looks like a lovely walk. We visited Scotland a couple of years ago and I can’t wait to go back, I think you’ve got some of the most beautiful scenery. I also can’t wait until Finn is old enough to go stomping in puddles, although I may regret saying that when I’m dealing with a wet, muddy and grumpy little boy! #whatevertheweather

It’s beautiful Jenny! I’ve not been to Scotland since 1991! I was 10! We’d love to take the kids, I love the scenery, my uncle and cousins live in Aberdeen. My ancestry leads back to Sutherland in the highlands on my maternal side. I’ve heard rumours that snow is coming this weekend. Sarah #whatevertheweather

What breath-taking scenery – and some snow! We haven’t had even a hint of it down south yet, in fact we’ve only had a couple of frosts so far this season – everything is trying to grow. Love the selfie picture with your son peeping from behind you – so cute x

How luck are you to live somewhere so beautiful. We moved to Wales from Essex to bring the kids up in a more outdoor place but it was between Scotland and Wales. The coldness of Scotland is what pushed us towards Wales. Although I didn’t realise how much rain we would have here. Lovely post #whatevertheweather

Sounds like a lovely wee walk! My kids were a bit disappointed coz we have not seen any snow so far, weather where we are seems fairly mild although dark and gloomy. Hopefully, we get to see snow soon before springtime… so kids can have fun making snowman and snowballs, lol. #WhateverTheWeather

This looks like a fantastic winters walk. In really jealous of the snow as we’ve had not yet this year!

What a lovely walk – I am dying for some snow this year. The last proper snow we had (down in the balmy south-east) was when my daughter was still a baby, and we haven’t been on any snowy travels since she was nine months old so she doesn’t really remember. #whatevertheweather

We haven’t seen much snow, mostly icy rain. Blegh! Your walk looks lovely. Excited to visit your blog! 🙂

Sounds like a great day out – one we’ll need to try now that we’re getting a car!

Sadly there’s been no snow in Devon. Lots of wind and rain which has made for a few muddy slippery and muddy walks around our new neighbourhood. Thank goodness for a few break in the weather like you had for this lovely walk x #whatevertheweather

This place is so, so beautiful. I bet it was so peaceful standing by the waterfalls. So serene! I am so envious of your snow. We’re quite lucky because it hasn’t really dipped below 9 degrees and we’re still getting bouts of sunshine. But it really doesn’t feel like winter this year. Poor A falling into the puddle. I bet he found it fun though. x

I would love to visit Scotland one day – I have been in the UK sine I was 10 yrs old and have not been up there yet! Shame on me! Ethan would have love to see the Loch. As you know he is crazy about Loch Ness – I’m not too sure if it is the same location but it looks pretty impressive to me and good enough for a lovely walk. 🙂 Thank you for hosting and sharing. x
