Neither of my boys are what would be called ‘sleepers’, but then sleeping through from an early age is more of a modern definition of sleeping well. However, when you have issues of children taking forever to get to sleep it can be nice to have a few methods in the bedtime routine to help them fall asleep.
We have used various routines for O (A still feeds to sleep and probably will do for some time yet!), but the best thing so far has been having no screens after 5pm and then quiet time for 45 minutes before bed, where he can wind down.
As part of quiet time we have started playing this Slumberland CD, which is very relaxing. The singer, Humphrey Berney, has a soothing voice and it’s enjoyable for us all to listen to. I especially love Somewhere Over the Rainbow and Edelweiss, both favourite songs of mine as a child.
The artwork on the cover and inside is also beautiful, I think that alone would make me want to buy this CD, even before I had heard it! I’m now considering whether it would scan well to make art work for our playroom wall!
