At the moment O is rather fond of ‘smoothies’, I’m not sure if they are more milkshakes, but anyhow he asked again yesterday if he could make a banana smoothie. Here’s our recipe for a simple smoothie with only 3 ingredients! Buy your ingredients from a local shop or supermarket.
All you need is:
1 Banana
Honey (preferably runny)
Milk
First O sliced the banana and put it in the food processor.
Then he added a spoonful of honey on top of the banana.
Finally a slosh of milk went in, with a little help from me. Nope, this recipe does not have any exact measurements! Just do everything by eye, which is perfect for little ones!
Blend for 30 seconds until smooth. The kids will be desperate to have some at this point, so don’t delay and pour it out for them to drink!
You can use any fruit combination instead of banana. Strawberry and raspberry is quite nice and you can even add some cocoa powder to the banana to make chocolate banana flavour.
My two love making up new combinations. We often try different fruits and blend them to create fruit smoothies rather than milky ones. Mango and pineapple is definitely a favourite fruit smoothie.

Smoothies are a great idea for a nutritious drink that children can help make themselves. Looks yummy.
