We were lucky enough to be invited to Gambado soft play in Edinburgh to test out their facilities.
It was surprisingly easy to find considering that we were coming from outside of Edinburgh. We were also surprised to find out that the car parking at Fountain Park is free for 4 hours if you get your ticket validated before you leave Gambado (you still need to put the ticket in the car park machine, but don’t need to pay).
When we visited Gambado it happened to be Edinburgh’s October holiday week, so it was quite busy. I apologise for the lack of good quality photographs as I didn’t want to get other people’s children in the photographs (almost impossible!) and the lightning inside the large soft play area was a bit darker. Plus the boys were having so much fun that they didn’t keep still for a second!
We were pleased to find that there were lockers available to use to put in belongings. If your children are happy to go around on their own then you won’t need to use them and the adults can enjoy a leisurely coffee and snack, browsing with the free wifi whilst the kids run around. Unfortunately our two aren’t at that stage yet!
There is a large 3 level soft play structure, with a variety of tunnels, a ball pit, bridges, slides and other features. The boys had great fun racing around, up steps, down slides, through all the tunnels. My knees were a bit sore the following day with all that crawling around!
There is a toddler area for 3 and under separated from the main structure by tables. This area is contained so your little ones can run around to their hearts content while you sit and watch from the tables or join in with their fun. The toddler area has a ball pit, bubble tube, slides and blocks.
At weekends and school holidays there is also a small climbing wall. This area was quite busy when we were there, clearly older children were a big fan of climbing.
Near the entrance there is a carousel ride, which we didn’t manage to go on, but is part of the ticket price.
Of course, with all that running around you are likely to get very hungry and thirsty. Fortunately Gambado has a reasonably priced cafe, with meals, snacks and drinks available.
All in all we enjoyed our visit, although maybe we’ll go on a quieter day next time!
