This month we received our craft box full of Bostik adhesives and goodies, with the theme of ‘Dragon’. After lots of umming and aahing of what to make I finally settled on a little matchbox pet dragon (in the style of the long skinny Chinese dragons) lying on it’s hoard of gold and gems.
Unfortunately when I looked for the matchbox, which I know we have somewhere, I couldn’t find it. So we have improvised with a small box. If you can get hold of a matchbox you can really go to town with the decorating, which I’m sure the kids would enjoy more!

You will need:
Small box
Paint/card etc. to decorate the box
Glitter glue
Scissors
Plastic gems
Plastic gold coins
Button (medium-large)
Ric Rak
String of sequins
Googly eyes
Small sequins
Glue
Instructions:

- Paint or decorate your matchbox. We glued green shiny card to the top of the box and decorated the card with writing in gold glitter glue and a couple of gems.

- Glue a length of sequins to the back of a button and let it dry.

- When dry glue a very short piece of ric rac for a tongue and let it dry.
- Turn the button dragon head over and glue on two googly eyes (I love that these ones have eyelashes!) and a couple of small sequins for nostrils.
- When the box is dry fill with plastic gold coins (often available in the party section at pound shops) and plastic gems.
- Place your dragon on top of it’s hoard!

What do you think of our little pet dragon? Are you going to make your own with the kids?

What a great idea. I always look for arts and crafts posts, love new ideas to do with the kids on a rainy day. This looks like so much fun and perfect for my two who love dragons at the moment after reading Zog 🙂 #picknmix

I think my little boy would love this, I need to search through my craft stash and see if I’ve got what we need. X #HowtoSunday

This is a lovely idea, my 5year old loves crafts and would really enjoy this. A dragon would of course be a complete bonus. Thanks for linking to #PicknMix
