Christmas seemed a little boring when it was just us adults, but add in a couple of kids and the excitement goes through the roof!  My boys are already considering what they might be given for Christmas.  As both my boys love trains we HAD to get at least one train themed gift and what better train gift than a Brio railway set.

Brio Metro Railway Set

The Brio Metro Railway set is a loop track, with an underground tunnel and station.  The track also comes with a 3 coach train, 2 people, suitcase, ticket machine and underground sign.

My youngest had great fun pretending that the people were taking their tickets, opening the doors to let them into the train station and pretending to speak on a loudspeaker as the train approached the station.

Once everyone was aboard, the train zoomed around the track, lights on and train whirring.  We loved that when you move the train the lights go on and it makes a whirring sound like an underground train.

Imaginative play is one of my boys favourite things to do.  They are always creating new stories and acting them out with their toys.  We have been on a few different underground trains, both in the UK and Barcelona, so they liked acting out their previous journeys too.

Aside being a great toy for imaginary play it’s also perfectly built for tough play by young children.  The track itself is wooden, but the tunnel, station, train and accessories are all plastic. It’s not unusual for my two to accidentally sit on their toys or to try to take them apart (and occasionally throw them!) so I love that the Brio Metro train set withstands rough play.

The Brio wooden track can fit together with other wooden tracks so that you can expand your railway and include lots of other areas to play.

This set is perfect for kids aged 3 and over, although I am sure slightly younger children would happily use it too.  We have put the train set away for Christmas (after a quick play to review the set) so my boys are very excited for it to come back again!
