One of O’s favourite ways to paint at the moment is to make hand and foot print paintings. We made a whole menagerie at Christmas time and this time there were requests for sheep, birds and rockets. So we made time to create lots of paintings including chick handprint art.
We started with a few footprint rockets, which required a blue (at O’s request) painted foot and orange toes (for flames). We managed two rockets with one painted foot and when it was dry he cut out two triangles for the ‘wings’ and a smaller triangle for the nose. They look pretty good!
The next piece of art was to be a mummy bird and chicks, very Easter themed. To create the mummy bird Mr O chose blue paint (again) and placed one handprint over another to create the look of feathers. He then used his fingers to make several little yellow finger print chicks.
Once dry I used a pen to create the mummy bird and tiny chicks features. O cut out the mummy birds beak, which was then glued in place. Mr O was very proud of it!
The final painting were finger painting flowers that we made by one print in the middle of the flower and several as petals, then a single green stem. These would look great on a chick handprint art Easter or Mother’s Day card.
