I don’t know about you, but it is officially winter here in my opinion. We are now going out the house with fleece lined suits, hats, gloves and scarfs on. It is cold!
The Ochil hills nearby are topped with snow and we’ve had a fair few sleety flurries down here.
The boys are quite good at getting all their winter outdoor gear on, O loves his snow boots and has been wearing them since we bought them back in October!? However, winter does make me love the easiness of summer where you can, at the most, throw on a jumper or jacket and run out the door. Now we need a full 20 minutes to get both boys and me sorted to go out! The layers and fidgety accessories can be a little annoying when you have two to get ready and then whilst you sort yourself out they take hats and gloves off again!
But we have managed to get out and have mainly visited parks and played out on their bikes. I’m looking forward to the snow though, it will be nice to get out building snowmen and sledging again!
Do you enjoy winter?

Lucy says
Not a huge fan – hate being cold. But it is definitely much more manageable on when we make the effort to get out and about. Takes me almost 20 minutes just to dress one, so impressed you manage two in that time! #whatevertheweather
Mini Travellers says
I don’t feel like we have quite got there yet. Def hats and gloves but want the rain to go. I love crisp cold winter days. Thanks for hosting. #whatevertheweather

My friends call me crazy, but winter is my favourite time of year. A blanket of snow makes even the ugliest of things look pretty and I love taking the children to see the Christmas lights. I’m a bit soppy, but to me its magical. Your post just reminded me of how lovely it is, but I do hate the 20 minute faff getting layer upon layer to go out and then dumping it all into a pile when we’re home. lovely post, thanks for hosting #whatevertheweather
Kaye says
It’s so cold here too, it’s as if it came out of nowhere but we’re finally starting to endure the icy mornings. Lovely pics, I really need to get A a massive snowsuit so he’s nice & cosy! #whatevertheweather
Baby Isabella says
They look wrapped up warm! Agree it can be a bit of a hassle to get out the door when putting on multiple layers!! I saw snow over the weekend!! (It wasn’t real but looked convincing) Winter is definitely here… #whatevertheweather x
Elizabeth says
Since we ride our bikes everywhere I feel like it takes forever to get out the door. Getting everyone bundled for rain and cold. The boys think it is funny though to be all bundled up. #WhatevertheWeather
Caroline (Becoming a SAHM) says
Winter really is here isn’t it? But good to wrap up warm and still get out and avoid going stir crazy indoors!! Xx
Cathy (MummyTravels) says
I know it’s past time for winter, but I feel like autumn was over too quickly – I love the leaves, the crisp blue sky, all without feeling like I’m freezing! I’m sure I’ll get used to it soon, but it’s fuzzy socks, hot chocolate and the heating right up for now… #whatevertheweather
Lisa@intotheglade says
No, I’m afraid I’m not a fan at all. Give me crisp cold day anytime over the dark, wet dank days we are having down here at the moment. The boys look cosy in their hats and don’t seem at all bothered by the cold – bless them. Thank you for hosting xx
Lisa (Travel Loving Family) says
I’m not a fan of winter, I love autumn and the gorgeous colours but winter and the cold and wet is my worse time of year! It also takes us a good 20 minutes to get out of the house like you mention in your post! #whatevertheweather
Beth says
It definitely is winter! It’s so cold. The wind has an ice cold feel to it doesn’t it? Such a lovely photos – looks like fun x
Julie Downes says
Your boys look all cosy! I’m happy with dry cold days, not so much the damp, dark days. I’d forgotten how long it takes to get out the door with all the coats, hats and gloves and my daughter then discards them all as soon as possible arghhh #whatevertheweather
Maria (one tiny leap) says
I do enjoy the colder months, the rain however, not so much! But I think there’s nothing like the feeling you get when you get a nice hot drink after a cold walk in the woods, and I’m very fond of going to the beach in the Winter – I find it all very romantic 😉 Plus, ’tis the season to be merry! Thanks for hosting x
Claire at Tin Box Traveller says
Tin Box Tot loves her snow boots but won’t keep her hat and gloves on for more than a moment. Maybe that will change when the weather gets really cold. I love the crispness of Winter and coming back into a warm house after a really chilly walk. I’m not liking my dry, cracked hands though 🙁 #whatevertheweather
Jess Mrs Puddleducky says
It’s just starting to feel like winter here, I’ve been wearing gloves for the first time! However getting my little girl to wear a hat is a challenge! I love the cold dry sunny weather but can’t stand the rain! X
Sarah says
I’m a winter baby, so I quite enjoy winter. The only thing I don’t enjoy is when all the trees are bare of their leaves. Sarah #whatevertheweather
Mummyhereandthere says
aw, I understand the extra time to get them ready amounst all the faffing aobut. But they do look cute in their outfits and it is goo that you still go out andf explore even if it is freezing X #WhatevertheWeather

I enjoy crisp cold days. I’m not a big fan of the rain – but that’s all year round, not just winter! I think we’ll go shopping for snow boots. The tiger feet wellies are too small and I think something with a lining would be warmer and more comfortable. #whatevertheweather
catherine@pushingthemoon says
I love winter… when it’s a bright, crisp day. When it’s a grey and drizzly Winter’s day then I don’t like to leave the house – I would much prefer to hibernate under a blanket on those days!
I love that you have snow topped hills nearby! Xxx
Chloe says
I am so jealous you get snow. It’s amazing what a difference it makes being at the other end of the country. We even had a warm day this week where I ended up taking off my jacket because I was so hot. I think it hit 10 degrees this week and I was so cold haha. Now I need to take that back!! We never really get super cold down here but are starting to feel the winter. Evie is in a vest and we always leave the house with a coat but we don’t need lots of layers yet. I’d love to go somewhere there is snow though. It must be so much fun. xx
Elizabeth says
Yes, winter is definitely here! I miss proper winter – snow, sledging, skiing, that I had in Canada. The UK winter is just wet and rainy!! Looks like you had a great day out though. 🙂 Make the best of it!
Keri (Baby Globetrotters) says
I would love the wintery weather so much more if it wasn’t for all the faffing with the layers of clothing! then as soon as one child is dressed, another has half undressed themselves, then of course the baby poops just when you think you;re ready…. But my kids also love the boots!! We live in the desert so absolutely any excuse they can find they will want to wear their winter wellies #whatevertheweather
Jenny Eaves says
Lol, I hate waiting getting all hot so will stuff them in their clothes as quick as possible! 🙂 x
Jenny Eaves says
Must be a little milder down there as we are in sleet and snow weather now, ice in the mornings, definitely a cold end to November. 🙂 x
Jenny Eaves says
Definitely! Even the bins look nice with a layer of white snow! The dumping of outdoor clothes annoys me just a bit too! 🙂 x
Jenny Eaves says
Yes, we have definitely gotten into winter all of a sudden! 🙂 x
Jenny Eaves says
Hope you manage to keep cosy and see some real snow soon. 🙂 x
Jenny Eaves says
Yes, O is on his bike so need to even add a thin hat under there. Will be getting our own adult bikes for Christmas so it will be nice to get cycling together again. 🙂 x
Jenny Eaves says
Definitely, my two (literally) bounce off the walls if indoors too long. 🙂 x
Jenny Eaves says
Ah yes, a good hot chocolate, that makes winter much more manageable! 🙂 x
Jenny Eaves says
Wet days are not as much fun, but the crisp cold mornings or snow are great! 🙂 x
Jenny Eaves says
That’s the biggest downside to winter, the getting changed, maybe it gets easier as they get older?! 🙂 x
Jenny Eaves says
Yes, very cold, we had snow the other day here and ice this morning. 🙂 x
Jenny Eaves says
They seem quite warm in their clothes, hopefully keep them warm enough through winter. 🙂 x
Jenny Eaves says
Yes, rain isn’t so much fun, but fortunately we get a fair bit of snow here, so not too bad! Love a hot chocolate after being outdoors. 🙂 x
Jenny Eaves says
O keeps his on, but A at not quite 2 is forever taking his gloves off too. My hands are awful as usual, so painful when they crack because of the cold! 🙂 x
Jenny Eaves says
Keeping hats on is hard work, but it’s the gloves on little hand that I found more difficult! 🙂 x
Jenny Eaves says
They definitely look better in spring with all the fresh new foliage. 🙂 x
Jenny Eaves says
Thank you! They are cosy in their clothes! 🙂 x
Jenny Eaves says
Some of O’s first snow boots were Primark and they did the job for a season, despite being quite cheap, always worth a look.:) x
Jenny Eaves says
I know what you mean, cold and wet aren’t as much fun! 🙂 x
Jenny Eaves says
Lol, no way am I taking my jacket off outside until April! Way too cold here! You should come up to Scotland one winter and go skiing and sledging, so much fun! 🙂 x
Jenny Eaves says
Do you ever visit Canada in winter? it would be great to show your kids what you had when growing up! We have snow down here for a fair bit of winter, but not normally until January and February, love sledging and playing in the snow! 🙂 x
Jenny Eaves says
Ha ha, yes, put it on and they take it off and then you get so roasting hot waiting. At least it’s fun when their actually outside! 🙂 x
Mudpie Fridays says
Oh I am hoping for snow down this way this year as well – although preferably after my work trip to Edinburgh on the 17th!! Lovely photos of the boys playing and the sun is shining!! Thanks for hosting #whatevertheweather xx
Jenny Eaves says
Ooh, are you going to the Christmas market? We’re off to Edinburgh on Friday to see Stickman, can’t wait and then back for the market another day. 🙂 x
