It is officially spring, despite the fact the weather keeps reverting to winter. So this week have been reviewing the Little Tikes Anchors Away Pirate Ship water table, which is perfect for the warmer weather. It was almost 9 degrees when I took the photos and as the sun was out the boys chose to wear t-shirts and my eldest even wore shorts. I think I can say they are truly Scottish when they are so keen to be outside in a t-shirt as soon as the big yellow ball in the sky appears!
Anchors Away Pirate Ship
The pirate ship table comes in a rather large box and needs some assembly with a drill. I did have a little trouble finding the longer screws for the legs, mainly as they weren’t in the same packet as the other screws, but hidden in one of the bags for the toys. It’s fairly straightforward and I had it together and filling up with water within 30 minutes.
It’s a good size water table and even though it is really meant for my youngest, at just turned 4, my 6 year old had great delight playing with it too!
There are various play pieces that are screwed onto the table itself, including a pirate plank, ship’s wheel, slide, canon, anchor and crows nest with water pump. The two water pumps for the crows nest and canon are probably the boys favourite pieces to play with!
There are 8 movable items, including 2 pirates, water squirting shark, boat and bucket. The two little pirates climbed to the crow’s nest and were attacked by the canon, floated away on the rowing boat. It’s great how quickly imaginative play can capture their imaginations.
The water table is a great set up and could easily entertain 2-3 young children. It’s easy for youngsters 2 and over to reach the items and I would say most children could work the water pumps from around 3 years old. There’s plenty to entertain and if you have children who like imaginative play they will absolutely love this water table.
Our Verdict
We love the Anchors Away Pirate Ship, it’s perfect for young children to enjoy water play and encourage imaginative play. It’s easy to set up and will keep the kids busy for long periods of time, the perfect gift for summer!
