It was a sunny few days last week, so we had the tuff spot out in the garden for some sensory play. This is a quick 10 minute set up, simply because I had to get something together quick before tantrums ensued!
All you need is:
* Rice
* Containers
* Measuring cups
* Spoons
I laid out all the above items on the Tuff spot and let the boys out to play.
They had great fun pouring and tipping and scooping up again. O loved pouring rice through the funnel and mixing as hard as he could ( he loves the pretend cooking play!). A had lot of fun just emptying and tipping and then standing up and dancing on the rice, it made a nice crunching sound, which intrigued him!
Very simple play, but lasted at least 30 minutes and then they kept coming back to it on and off for the next hour. Not too bad for a 10 minute set-up!
If you have the foresight, it would be great to colour the rice the night before. I’ve never tried colouring rice, it’s on my to-do list, but not quite got round to it yet!
What are you favourite quick set-up play ideas?

We haven’t tried too much sensory play as Archie has issues around textures due to his Autism but I’m going to start introducing activities like these and hopefully he’ll enjoy it 🙂 #ToddlerAprovedTuesday

This looks so simple to set up, but I can see how fun it could be. One to try here, thanks!

For this idea it’s not expensive to buy some cheap rice, so it doesn’t matter if he doesn’t like it. Hope he enjoys it! 🙂 x

They had loads of fun! Definitely recommend dyeing the rice different colours if you have time. 🙂 x

This looks like great fun. I need to do more of this to occupy my 2 toddlers, I think. They might leave the house alone then! #twinklytuesday

This isn’t an official tuff spot, just a cement mixing tray from B and Q, £15, exactly the same! Definitely worth it! 🙂 x

What a great idea for some sensory play. Makes me think I really must try and get a tuff spot for the girls to try things like this.
