Where Are Sycamore Glamping Pods?
Sycamore Glamping Pods are located on a working farm in the Northumbrian countryside. Only a 5 minute drive from the A68, it’s a lovely quiet rural location, but with easy access to surrounding attractions.
When you book to stay at Sycamore Glamping Pods you will also be given a link to their app. The app is a great source of information! From how to get there to all the fun things there are to do in the area. I highly recommend downloading it.
Sycamore Glamping Pods
Because the glamping pods are located in beautiful rolling farm and woodland, there is plenty of wildlife. Keep your eyes open for bird of prey, they are often circling around the fields nearby. In the spring time you can also request to visit the lambing shed, if you’re lucky you might even see a lamb being born!
This is also a fantastic place to look up at the dark night skies. With no lights for miles around, you can definitely do some serious stargazing from the pods!
The Glamping Pod
There are 2 glamping pods beside the farm, one suitable for 2 adults and 2 children and the other for 2 adults and up to 4 children. We stayed in the slightly larger Cedar Pod, which has 2 bunk beds, a double bed and sofa bed. Although we only used the bunk beds and double bed. It could be a little squashed once you have the sofa bed out, however, it would only be out in the evening. The pods have underfloor heating, which is definitely a good thing if you are staying outside of the summer season!
The pods have a small fully equipped kitchen area with microwave, fridge, kettle and hob. Perfect for breakfasts and easy dinners as a family. You also have use of a fire pit outdoors too.
The shower room is perfect for families, just enough room for a toilet, sink and shower. There is also an outdoor bath, which is a new addition since our visit. However it looks pretty amazing!
The BBQ Hut
Just outside the pods, beside the car park area is a BBQ hut. Designed for groups and families to book for an evening cooking dinner or even just some marshmallows over the fire. It heats up pretty quickly, so you’ll definitely stay warm in the hut whilst you are cooking.
BBQ packs are available on request.
For the Kids
A lovely welcome pack with kids activities is a fantastic start to your trip. With kids crafts, puzzles and more. I also appreciated the yummy food and Northumberland goodies I received too.
In the storage shed beside the car park is a few kids outdoor activities, including swing ball. It’s perfect to keep the kids busy outdoors whilst you are cooking or just relaxing!
Things To Do In Northumberland
Northumberland has plenty to do for families. A lot of the activities are outdoors, but if you head into Newcastle, only 40 minutes away by car, then there are plenty of indoor options too.
Within Half An Hour Of Sycamore Glamping Pods
As the glamping pods are near Hadrian’s wall (and named after the famous Sycamore Gap), then this is one of the best places to head! Hadrian’s wall has several different points of interest, from walking along the wall itself to visiting some of the historic forts and visitor centres along its route. Many of the best areas along Hadrian’s wall are within a 30 minute drive from the pods.
There are also plenty of walks within half an hour of the pods, details of these can be found in the Sycamore glamping pods app.
Wild About Adventure has plenty of adrenaline activities from coasteering to rock climbing in along Hadrian’s Wall crags. A definite must for families with older kids.
Within An Hour Of Sycamore Glamping Pods
As mentioned above, Newcastle is a 40 minute drive from the pods. Here you can find the science museum ‘Life’, The Discovery Museum, Newcastle Castle, Baltic Art Gallery and seven stories.
It’s around a 45 minute drive to Kielder Water and Forest Park. A fantastic place for walking and some awesome sculptures all around the area. Well worth a whole day walking and exploring!
Alnwick Castle and Gardens requires at least 1 day, if not another half day to explore the new kids play area! It’s just under an hour away from the pods and definitely worth including in your visit.
