With football being the main topic of conversation at this time of year, we are hosting our own football watch party! It’s going to be a football frenzy watching teams competing for that world title. We are especially excited with Scotland being in the competition this year and to celebrate we have created our own ‘How to’ with ideas to make your own watch party for friends and family.
So, what do you need for an awesome world themed football watch party?! Three main things come to mind; somewhere to watch the football, a huge range of food (I have teenagers after all!) and welcoming decorations.

Where To Watch The Football

The most important thing to decide in a football watch party is where are you going to watch the game? This clearly depends on how many people you want to be there and where has enough room for everyone!
You will also need to ensure that your television is in working order and big enough for everyone to see. We have the Hisense 50” Ultra HD Smart TV, it has Dolby vision 4K quality, so this is perfect for our watch party. We’ll see every tackle and goal in crystal clear definition. And if the sound isn’t loud enough with just the TV, we can also use the Bluetooth speaker, to make sure everyone is happy at just how well they can hear the commentary. Even if they have to nip off to get more food!
With the television ready, we next need to consider the food…

Best Food Options

Now, what are you going to eat?! We love a good buffet, a variety of food everyone can pick at and come back to throughout the football match. But as this is a competition between a huge number of countries around the world, let’s make it world themed!
Choose several different countries that are playing in the world football games this summer, and pick a different food for each. Or choose your favourite foods and see which country they come from?!
If you’re not sure what food options you can choose for each country, here are a few buffet ideas:
- Italy – Pizza (of course!)
- Japan – Sushi
- Portugal – Pastéis de Nata
- Mexico – Nachos with guacamole and salsa dips
- Sweden – Swedish meatballs
- Ghana – Plantain crisps
- Morrocco – Cous cous
- USA – New York cheesecake
- France – Macarons
- Scotland – Irn Bru!
Just choose everyone’s favourite options and everyone will be full, happy and enjoying the football!
The Decorations

Finally, it’s not a watch party without some decorations!
As they are so many countries involved from all over the world it’s a great idea to consider plenty of flags. Then the kids can wave them for whichever team they are supporting, or drape them around the room.
We’ve bought some flags, but you can just as easily print or draw your own to hang around! Bunting is perfect for making it a very festive. Atmosphere and little flags on toothpicks for each world food also looks great.
The more colourful the decorations are the more likely people will be cheering throughout the football match!

How To Host An Awesome Football Watch Party
Once you’ve got these three things sorted then all you need to do is invite your friends and family around. But perhaps have some nice calming music for after the game, just in case anyone is sad about their favourite team losing.
Have a great summer football watch party!
