Where is Gloagburn Sunflower Trail
For several weeks at the end of July and beginning of August you will find Gloagburn sunflower trail to the West of Perth. A field full of the most gorgeous bright yellow sunflowers, it’s well worth visiting!
Booking is required and in 2022 they released tickets weekly on a Saturday morning. The afternoon tickets being first to sell out! To get here you can come via Perth and then head West toward Tibbermore. From the A9 North toward Perth you exit on the slip road signposted for Tibbermore, although be careful slowing down here with the fast flow of traffic!

A Scottish Sunflower Trail
The trail in 2022 was actually a map of Scotland, islands included (well some of them!). Don’t ask my parents about little Gigha being missed off the map! With several stops around the main Scotland sunflower trail, there are plenty of instagramable points.
At Glasgow we found a horse shoe throwing station, trying to get the horseshoes on the pole. It’s surprisingly hard to do! There were hay bales at Ben Nevis to mark the tallest mountain in Scotland (and the UK). The kids obviously climbed up and jumped off a few times. Then at Edinburgh there was a giant Jenga tower to play with.
The kids loved all the stops and decided to go on the longer walk around the trail too. The only problem is the longer trail around the edges and islands took around 40 minutes more than the first 20-30 minute trail. This would have been fine if there were a few stops with other activities to break it up and maybe a water container to top our empty water bottles, it was a lot hotter day than the forecast had said! But if you are prepared with more water and fewer clothes then it would probably have been fine!
There are several points around the walk that have picking areas. This is so you don’t take too many sunflowers from around the map shape.

Cost of Sunflowers

Sunflowers in 2022 were 5 for £4, which is a fantastic affordable price. You are given garden shears to take with you to cut flowers and then there is a station at the end to prune the leaves and cut them shorter.
We were going climbing at the Perth climbing wall after, so kept the flowers in a tub of water whilst they were in the hot car. They survived perfectly and went on to look beautiful in the house for another week and a half afterward!
Gloagburn Farm Shop
The farm shop has some very tasty food, ice cream, cakes and drinks. You can easily pick up a picnic from there after your visit to the sunflowers. There are also lots of beautiful gifts and plants at the farm shop.
Beside the car park is also a small play park, perfect for kids to play in and a nice place for parents to sit on the bench and relax after a busy morning!
