If you are a regular reader then you will know it was O’s 4th birthday recently. So of course now we need to send out thank you cards for all the gifts he was given. This is a tradition of ours, I’ve always sent out thank you cards ever since I can remember, as it’s nice to let people know that their gift was appreciated. Although as the kids get older it will be their responsibility to make and write them. Which means less will probably be sent! As the party was space themed we decided to go for space potato printed cards too.
Space Potato Printed Cards
I cut out some potato’s in an earth shape (circle), star and rocket using cookie cutters to push in and then cut around. Then I set paint out on plates and cards folded ready for potato printing.
O happily started printing the cards. He quickly realised that too much paint on the potato doesn’t work well. So after that he tried putting on less!
O set to work with the different potato’s until he had covered each card in his prints.
Of course A didn’t want to be left out of the messy painting, so I made him a star to stamp with too! He didn’t quite get the printing process and instead smeared it over the paper. But he’ll get it in a few months I’m sure!
Do you like potato printing?

Potato painting is such fun and we really should do more of it. I’ve never thought of using cookie cutters to create different shapes – great tip! #letkidsbekids

We haven’t tried potato printing yet. We’re going to try and make Christmas cards this year with potato printing. I LOVE your cookie cutters. I didn’t think of using these for cutting out the shapes, we were just going to try our luck with a knife, but that’s a great idea! x #letkidsbekids

Cookie cutters are definitely the way to go, although if you have the time to free-form you should go for that too. I had to free form some of the rocket as I didn’t have any potatoes long enough! 🙂 x

Cookie cutters make potato printing so easy, doesn’t take as long to carve that way! 🙂 x
