Start With Your GP
The first place that you should start is your GP. You should get in contact with the doctor that you are registered at and book an appointment. The receptionist will likely ask you what the problem is today. You don’t have to tell them if you don’t want to, but it might help you get an appointment faster if you do.
If the GP doesn’t have any appointments for a few weeks, then you can also try a walk in centre. Walk-in centre’s have GP’s too, so you don’t have to worry about not being seen by someone who can help.
Get Referred Where You Need To Be
If your GP or the staff from the walk in center think that there is an issue, they will do one of two things. Either they will send you to hospital to get checked out straight away, or they will refer you to a specialist. If you don’t want to wait for a public referral, you can always look at private dermatologists, or whichever professional you need.
A referral from another doctor sometimes helps the process go a little quicker when it comes to getting appointments, but not always. As such, just go with whatever you want to do here.
Keep Your Appointments
Once you make an appointment, you need to stick to it if you can. We know that sometimes life throws up circumstances that we simply cannot avoid. However, you really need to keep your appointment if possible. Your appointment is important so that you can get checked out. However if you cancel multiple appointments they can also refuse to see you when you try to book another. Keeping your appointments is important and if you can’t keep yours, then make sure you cancel it. Then the GP can fit someone else in.
Hopefully, you have found this article helpful, and now see why it’s important to see the right doctor. We wish you the very best of luck, and hope that you manage to get seen by the person who will be able to help you asap.
