Edinburgh Festival Fringe
The Edinburgh Festival Fringe is one of the world’s largest art and culture festivals. There is everything from serious drama and theatre shows, to comedy and science shows. The wonderful thing about the Edinburgh festival is there is something for everyone, no matter what age!
For children you will find plenty of funny comedy shows and plays based on books or made up by the actors. We are yet to see a show that we didn’t like! This year we were invited to Doktor Kaboom and the Wheel of Even More Science, which is a mix of comedy and science!
Doktor Kaboom and the Wheel of Even More Science
Doktor Kaboom is a German scientist, who will teach you a little German as part of the show. Admittedly it’s only one word, which he’ll have you shouting like a German dictator! ‘Ja’ is the answer to many of his questions and you will soon be joining in with everyone else.
He certainly likes to make jokes and will have everyone in the audience laughing. Some jokes are meant more for the adults, but the kids will be giggling at all the silliness too.
Doktor Kaboom will spin the wheel of even more science. Wherever the wheel stops is the science that he will perform. This makes every show totally different! There is only time for 4 or 5 different science experiments per show. The kids were impressed by the exothermic reaction and the vase and glove experiment. But it’s the interaction with the audience and the kids on stage that make it truly hilarious. His German persona with occasional shouting and high pitched laughing certainly make it amusing to watch.
Is The Show Worth Visiting?
Yes! This was a great family show with lots of cool science and bad jokes. Everyone loved it and kids got a chance to come up on stage and join in with the show. Definitely a worthwhile show to book this Edinburgh Festival!
If you are only going to a few shows this year, then I recommend putting this one on the list!
