AD – I have been compensated for this post.
Christmas is looming on the horizon and many of us have family abroad. Thinking ahead can be difficult when we have so much on our plates, but we all know that everywhere abroad has a certain last posting date. But wouldn’t it be better if we could simply contact someone in the country we’re posting to, so they can buy and send the gift instead? It means less expensive shipping costs and a lot better for the environment with reduced carbon footprint. This is where Splitcha comes in and saves you money and time.
Launching in mid-November Splitcha is currently taking on pre-registers of those interested in using the app or in becoming potential shoppers and earn extra cash.
It’s a simple idea, you select what item you would like to be delivered and in which country. The app matches you up with shoppers in the country who give you offers of suitable products and costs, then you select the shopper with the best option. Safely pay via PayPal and the shopper orders your products to be delivered to your address of choice. As shoppers are local themselves the products will be locally sourced and help out the environment with a reduction in use of air cargo.
Sending Gifts Abroad
If you have family and friends abroad, as many of us do, you’re going to need to send gifts every so often. Most of our post goes by air to the destination costing us money and costing the earth an increase in carbon emissions. Clearly this is not the best way forward, so why not choose a local shopper to do the hard work for you. Even those last minute purchases for anniversaries or birthdays you may have forgotten should get there on time if you’re able to shop within the country that the recipient lives!
This is a great way to think outside the box and get gifts to loved ones without breaking the bank or the environment.
Baby & Toddler Holiday Supplies
There are plenty of other uses for the Splitcha app. One of my favourite uses will be getting supplies delivered to your holiday home for your arrival. When travelling with young children it can be stressful enough, so the last thing you want to do is head to the shops to buy food or nappies!
You can get all the essentials delivered to your holiday home at the beginning of your holiday. Making it easier to relax and less packing of the usual baby items such as nappies, food pouches and milk. It makes even easier knowing that you don’t have to shop around where you don’t know the language and where to find the products locally.
Although the app is originally designed for you to buy items in other countries, there’s also the potential to use it as a bargain hunting tool in your own country!
You can use local shoppers to help find a bargain by getting them to use local knowledge with your own budget in mind. You could well be surprised at what items they come up with.
I’m looking forward to the app launching and can’t wait to see how I can use it on our travels around the world. We’ll certainly be considering using Splitcha for delivering holiday supplies and sending gifts to friends abroad.
So I will be signing up to register my interest in Splitcha, who knows maybe I’ll even choose to earn a little cash on the side too by becoming a shopper!
