Last week, whilst out on our bikes, we discovered a few clumps of frogspawn at the edge of a farm track. We took a little frogspawn home with us to watch it develop into frogs and put in our new container pond.
The boys were both quite excited to see it change into tadpoles and are looking forward to baby frogs in the garden.
I put together this little Frog Lifecycle Workbook using Twinkl resources to reinforce the different stages in a frogs life. For the cover I used the frog fly feeding game, with a little envelope taped to the back of the sheet to keep the flies in. This proved quite popular with both boys!
I printed off two pages of the frog lifecycle borders so that Mr O could draw the different stages (a long way off actual obvious drawings, but slowly getting there). I printed the same for Mr A, although he just liked scribbling!
I thought they would like to glue on the different life cycle stages, so I added in the life cycle page for them and a fold-out lifecycle too.
Mr O isn’t particularly keen on holding a pencil properly, so I also included a pencil control sheet with a frog theme.
Finally, Mr O’s favourite page in the work book is this frog life cycle dice game, which you roll the dice and match the number with the life cycle stage, then colour. He loves games and will have to have a search for other games on Twinkl for him.
We also created a small play tuff spot frog life cycle. I taped down the 4 large life cycle pictures and then cut out the arrows to tape down in between. I used blue water beads to represent water, circles of bubble wrap with black dots for frog spawn, cut tadpole and froglet(ish!) shapes out of felt and plastic frogs and lilypads.
The aim was to fish out the different life stages with tweezers and place on the correct life cycle stage. It’s also great for just playing with!
Do your kids love their own special ‘workbooks’?

My two love that roll say colour dice game too. There is a butterfly life cycle one on twinkl that we used last week and I’m going to have a hunt around for some more xx

Oh this looks great, a really good way to learn. I like the idea of making your own workbook, it’s difficult to find just the right one.
