Buddy Box and The #AldiChallenge

Last October the Scottish Parliament passed legislation that requires all retailers to charge 5p a carrier bag, to reduce carrier bag waste and encourage use of re-usable bags.  We generally remember to take a carrier bag with us whenever we’re going shopping, but sometimes we don’t take enough or buy more than can fit in the bag!

So I was delighted when I was given the opportunity to test out the My Buddy Box.  A foldable box/crate that is handy to carry and pop in the trolley when you’re shopping and folds out into a good sized box for your shopping.

We always do our big shop at Aldi’s and if you’ve been there you will know that they speed all the items through as quickly as possible, making it really difficult to get all the items into the bags properly.  With the larger reusable bags they tend to collapse in on themselves until filled up a bit more, so it’s a bit of a faff sometimes.

The My Buddy Box folds out and has rails that slide out to make it really sturdy and easy to place all the items inside.  I was really impressed at how easy it was to fit the shopping in.  Our only issue is that it was too small for our full weekly shop and still needed a small reusable bag as well.  But it’s much better than the 3-4 bags we used to bring with us!

I took a little video of us racing the Aldi sales assistant to get our shopping in quicker than they could the scan them for the alternative #Aldichallenge.

That’s a serious speed he’s going there! I think I’d have asked him to slow down lol. I have a buddy box that we reviewed a while back and we still use it in the back of the car. It’s great fro keeping all those things in one place and not scattered around the boot of the car! #TriedTested

It’s so handy isn’t it! I’ve been using it for in the boot this week too, great for changes of clothes, nappies and things. X

Good idea, looks like a handy thing to have in the boot of your car! We have been paying for bags in Northern Ireland for a while, and we do try to bring out own to the shops but sometimes you forget, so this would be a great thing to have with you! #TriedTested

Oh yes, I have paid for a couple here and there, but do my best to remember. this is so handy though, much better than the bags which are harder to keep open and put items in quickly. 🙂 x

Great idea but wouldn’t be anywhere near big enough for our shopping lol. We use trolley bags, which are great! Thanks for linking up with #TriedTested

I get annoyed with the trolley bags, they never want to stay attached! Yes it would be nice to have a bigger version of the box or several smaller ones so you could fit more in the car. 🙂 x
